Ensuring that all patients can access and receive health care that respects and responds to their individual preferences, needs, history, and situation within and outside the four walls of the exam room.

Background
A robust network of providers and clinic staff trained and capable of both counseling for and providing all forms of contraception is also critical to sexual and reproductive health care in Colorado. As such, ReproCollab funds activities focused on ensuring a trained and competent workforce that centers the patient in care decisions.

Recent Activities
The Protect and Expand Contraceptive Access initiative, launched in March 2023, enhances person-centered contraceptive care in Colorado’s safety net health system. This funding supports these health clinics, fostering culturally responsive, affordable, confidential, and timely contraceptive care.

In summer 2023, ReproCollab granted $1.5M to 12 health care organizations, benefiting 69 clinic sites across 28 Colorado counties. Upstream USA, our implementation partner, provides tailored technical assistance to enhance a clinic’s ability to offer all contraceptive options.

Access grantees will collaborate with Upstream USA, a national nonprofit specializing in reproductive care, to implement evidence-based best practices. Upstream is providing tailored technical assistance, working within an evidence-based framework to implement eight sustainable best practices in contraceptive care. Grantees will leverage Upstream’s expertise in practice transformation and policy collaboration.
“There is no wrong door for birth control. We work to reach a range of clinics where people get care. Every environment is unique, and we show up with a spirit of partnership to identify the places where there are gaps. We’re committed to this work in Colorado. Our goal is to think about this from a sustainability perspective to strengthen reproductive care and autonomy by increasing equitable access to all contraceptive options.”
